The energy transition is a huge challenge for Defence, where ships, aircraft and vehicles require large amounts of energy and have a very long life-span. The best possible equipment for soldiers is essential in the context of safety and functionality. In the past century, many tools and gadgets have been added to the equipment of individual soldiers. Each tool  also added more weight. In some cases, soldiers now have to carry up to 60 kg. This translates into more stress on their joints as well as a greater risk of injuries and reduced performance. To overcome this disadvantage, the start-up company InteSpring developed the Exobuddy exoskeleton in collaboration with DEC M&U and TNO .
