Mark your calendar for 1-3 July 2026 in Funchal, Madeira
On these dates, the Portugese university of Minho, Fibrenamics and Sciencentris organises the 5th edition of their conference on advanced materials for Defence. The conference takes place in Funchal, Madeira and focuses on the latest scientific and technical novelties in advanced materials for air, sea, land and space applications.


The AuxDefense conference will bring together various universities, researchers, technological centers, companies, and all of the entities interested in innovative solutions for this very high-demanding field. The conference also aims to be a place that promotes the exchange of ideas, the presentation of the latest developments and trends, the proposal of new solutions, and ultimately promote international collaborations.

Members of our member-associatons are elegible for a 15% discounted  registraton fee. Details to follow here in due time. In addition: early bird registration ends on 5 April 2026.

Apply for the free-ticket grant for young researchers
Five grants are available for Ph.D. students to attend AuxDefense 2026 with free registration.
Expressions of interest should be sent to secretariat@auxdefense.pt, after abstract submission, along with the Ph.D. student certificate.

Exhibit your innovation or product 
All exhibitors will have the possibility of seeing their project exhibited in a special location throughout the AuxDefense Conference. More information to follow here and on the conference website.

Compete for the AuxDefense innovation award by 15 May 2026
This contest aims to award the best innovative products in the field of advanced materials for defense. The proposals will be shown during the conference in a special showroom prepared for this purpose. The products will be evaluated by a selected jury, aiming at innovation, design, and functionality. The contest intends to be a showcase of the latest innovations in the field of advanced materials for defense, both for the scientific and industrial communities.
